Norris S. Pearman
Vice President Patriarch, Pioneer & Restorer
Norris Pearman did not hesitate to jump in and support his daughter Donna when she approached him about opening her own pharmacy in October 1984. He retired as General Foreman at the Naval Base after 38 years to help out wherever he could. He did everything to get the business up and running – from cashier, to stock taking, to filling shelves, picking goods and pricing them – whatever was needed.
Now he has stopped working 12-hour days and comes in to the pharmacy occasionally. He ensures the smooth running of the store’s activities while still meeting customers, staff and getting to know people. He has seen all the changes but he thinks the most significant has been the major expansions – People’s has grown from 900 sq. ft to now more than 5,000 sq. ft of retail space and a far more diverse customer base.
Mr. Pearman sums up his thoughts: “It’s very gratifying to see what Donna has accomplished. After working such long hours for so many years, I’m finding it hard to take it easy. However I am enjoying the fact that my wife and I are spending more time together.”
